Titled “Yuletide Glows Under the City Lights,” the Christmas Tree lighting event of Citadines Roces Quezon City was held on November 18. The gathering honored the rich Filipino tradition of weaving by featuring local merchants and the property’s beneficiary, Punique, which champions traditional women weavers who preserve the beauty of “puni,” or the intricate craft of folding and weaving palm leaves. The showcase serves as a reminder that an important part of our culture is woven from stories, heritage, and the hands of artisans who continue to keep these traditions alive — much like how Apo Whang-Od, her grace, strength, and creativity, served as an inspiration to weave culture into its identity.
To further celebrate the country’s culture and creativity, Citadines Roces Quezon City also celebrated Norman Peñaflorida, a renowned Filipino fashion storyteller. His works bring cultural events and theatre productions to life by promoting local fabrics. Sourced from indigenous tribes and communities across the Philippines, these materials, as shared by Peñaflorida, are vessels of the Filipino narrative and history. Through weaving, designing, and creating, he tells the stories of our indigenous peoples, our folklore, and our mythology. His presence during the event wove together the artistry, heritage, and the enduring spirit of Filipino creativity.

Some of the dishes prepared and became crowd favorites during the launch were Crispy Pata Pochero, Four-Cheese Salad, and Salmon Coulibiac. The evening quickly became a standout highlight, with guests praising the comforting, nostalgic touches woven into every dish.
