Free Electric Love Bus Returns: Here’s the New C-5 Route and Schedule

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has revived the iconic Love Bus, bringing back the heart-themed public transport service with a new fleet of electric buses that offer commuters free rides.
The revived service began operations on September 10, running from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The initial route connects Robinsons Galleria, the MMDA office, Arcovia City, C5-Bridgetown, and Eastwood City in Quezon City before making the return trip.
According to the MMDA, the service currently operates with six electric Love Bus units, providing commuters with another transportation option along the C-5 corridor. MMDA Chair Don Artes said the rides are free of charge.

From the Original Love Bus to an Electric Fleet
The Love Bus became a familiar sight on Metro Manila roads because of its distinctive heart-themed design. The original service was known as the country’s first air-conditioned bus to meet international standards.
It operated with a flat fare and fixed schedule, and featured a built-in stereo system. The service also implemented a “no standing in the aisle” policy to provide passengers with a more comfortable ride.
Now, the MMDA is bringing the concept back with electric buses as part of its efforts to provide additional public transportation options for commuters.
More Routes Coming
The current C-5 route is only the beginning. The MMDA said it plans to release additional Love Bus routes covering other areas in Metro Manila, including:
Makati City Hall – Mandaluyong City Hall – Pasig City Hall
Estancia West Wing – Uptown Transport Terminal
Eastwood Mall – UP Diliman
The agency also said it is purchasing additional Love Bus units to accommodate more passengers as the service expands.
With its new electric fleet, free fares, and additional routes in the pipeline, the revived Love Bus offers commuters another option for navigating Metro Manila—while giving a familiar piece of the city’s transportation history a modern upgrade.
