‘Mothra vs. Godzilla’ (1964)

The oldest film in the lineup, Mothra vs. Godzilla brings together two of Japan’s most recognizable kaiju. The film centers on Godzilla’s clash with Mothra, the giant divine moth, as the two monsters face off in one of the franchise’s classic battles.

The 1964 film is the fourth movie in the original Godzilla series and was directed by Ishirō Honda.

‘Godzilla vs. Biollante’

The festival then jumps to the Heisei era with Godzilla vs. Biollante, which introduces one of Godzilla’s most unusual opponents.

The story explores the consequences of combining plant DNA, human cells, and Godzilla’s genetic material, resulting in the enormous Biollante. The creature’s emergence puts Godzilla up against an enemy unlike any he has faced before.

‘Godzilla 2000: Millennium’

The Millennium era gets its spotlight with Godzilla 2000: Millennium, in which Godzilla faces Orga, an alien creature seeking to obtain and absorb the King of the Monsters’ genetic material.

Released in 1999, the film marked the beginning of a new series of Godzilla movies following the end of the Heisei era.

For fans who want an all-out monster showdown, Godzilla: Final Wars delivers a massive clash featuring Godzilla and a lineup of familiar kaiju.

The film follows Japanese government officials and scientists as they attempt to respond to the sudden emergence of a rapidly evolving creature in Tokyo Bay. The movie became a major critical and commercial success in Japan, winning seven Japan Academy Film Prize awards, including Picture of the Year.
