1. POSY – EAST ASIAN WOMAN IN HER 30s
The production is looking for an East Asian woman in her 30s to play Posy, described as beautiful, glamorous, and brazenly ambitious.
A former socialite and social climber, Posy is dealing with the collapse of her marriage to a notorious tycoon. Despite her circumstances, she remains flamboyant, shameless, and unapologetic, with a strong appetite for wealth, status, and attention.
Her personality is described as a mix of outrageous, calculating, and unexpectedly endearing.
Qualifications: Applicants must be fluent in English and familiar with Mandarin.
2. WILLIAM – CHINESE MAN IN HIS 20s
For the role of William, the production is seeking a Chinese man in his 20s who can portray a charismatic and handsome heir to a Shanghai real estate billionaire.
William is described as a wealthy, charming, and thrill-seeking young man with a mischievous streak and a larger-than-life personality. Beneath his carefree exterior, however, he is also open-hearted, warm, and genuinely interested in connecting with others.
Qualifications: Applicants must be fluent in English and conversational in Mandarin.
HOW TO AUDITION
Those interested in either role do not need previous professional acting credits to apply. The casting search is open to aspiring performers, and there is no audition fee.
Applicants must prepare a self-taped audition using the provided instructions and audition scenes, also known as sides, available through the official casting platform.
The casting notice also states that applicants may not receive a response before the global search concludes. Interested performers are advised not to follow up on their submissions unless contacted by the casting team.
Applicants can view the character descriptions, audition scenes, and submission instructions through the official Crazy Rich Asians casting call.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE SERIES
The upcoming eight-episode HBO series will continue the story introduced in the 2018 romantic comedy starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding.
The project is expected to expand the world of Kevin Kwan's bestselling novels, exploring the relationships, family dynamics, and social rivalries surrounding Singapore's wealthiest families.
Original cast members Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Ronny Chieng are set to return, while Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role in a recurring capacity. Adele Lim, who co-wrote the original film, will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
With a global casting search now underway, aspiring performers have an opportunity to audition for a series that brings audiences back into the extravagant world of Crazy Rich Asians.
