On November 18, 2025, China Banking Corporation (Chinabank) takes another step forward in its digital transformation journey as it becomes one of the first Philippine banks to enable Google Pay for both its Credit and Debit Cards, across Mastercard and Visa payment schemes. This partnership brings more convenience, flexibility, and security to customers through seamless tap to pay and online payment experiences.

With Google Pay now supported, Chinabank cardholders can enjoy quick, tap-and-go payments in stores, one-click checkouts online, and seamless transactions in apps—no card, no hassle, just effortless checkout.

Every Google Pay transaction is secured through advanced tokenization and device authentication, giving Chinabank customers confidence with every tap.

With this capability now in place, Chinabank customers can now easily add their cards to Google Wallet and enjoy contactless purchases in stores by simply tapping their mobile phones, and enjoy secure online checkouts using their Android devices. No need to pull out the plastic credit cards! This move marks another milestone in the Bank’s commitment to deliver modern, customer-focused financial solutions.

“Partnering with Google Pay perfectly aligns with our ‘Focused on You’ brand promise,” said Jose Julian E. Baduria, Jr., Chinabank Payments Solutions Head. “This initiative is part of our broader digital transformation strategy to make everyday banking more seamless, secure, and relevant to our customers’ changing lifestyles.”

“We’re proud to work with Chinabank to bring faster, convenient and more secure payments to the Philippines. This launch underscores our enduring commitment to accelerating financial inclusion and fueling the next chapter of the Philippines’ dynamic digital economy.” said Prep Palacios, Country Manager, Google Philippines.

As digital payments continue to rise, Chinabank’s collaboration with Google Pay is poised to accelerate the shift away from cash, offering cardholders fast, contactless, and highly secure transactions both locally and internationally.

“Google Pay transactions are done with secure digital tokens,” Baduria added. “Actual card details are never shared or stored on the device, significantly reducing the risk of fraud.”

“Our goal is to give customers the freedom to pay how they want, wherever they are,” Baduria shared. “By integrating with a trusted global platform like Google Pay, we’re bringing that convenience and confidence directly to their mobile devices.”

The integration with Google Pay marks another step in Chinabank’s digital journey, offering a more intuitive, convenient, and future-ready payment experience for today’s mobile lifestyle.

As digital payments continue to rise, Chinabank’s collaboration with Google Pay is poised to accelerate the shift away from cash, offering cardholders fast, contactless, and highly secure transactions both locally and internationally.

How to Add and Use Chinabank Cards in Google Wallet

Adding your Chinabank Credit or Debit Card to Google Wallet:

  1. Download Google Wallet from the Playstore and open the app on your Android device.

  2. Tap “Add to Wallet” and select “Payment Card.”

  3. Scan or manually enter your Chinabank Credit or Debit Card details.

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts for verification.

  5. Once verified, your card is ready to use with Google Pay.

Using Google Pay:

  • In-store: Unlock your phone and hold it near a contactless payment terminal until you see the checkmark or hear the confirmation beep.

  • Online: Choose Google Pay as your payment option where available at checkout for quick and secure purchases.

  • Security: Each transaction uses a unique digital card number or a biometric verification (fingerprint or face unlock), keeping your personal and card information safe.

While the focus will be on customer education and onboarding, Chinabank is set to roll out a series of communication initiatives to guide users on how to add and use their cards within Google Wallet. The Bank also ensures support channels are ready to assist new users in their transition to digital wallets.

As one of the first local financial institutions to bring Google Pay to the Philippines, Chinabank continues to transform—empowering customers with smarter, safer, and more connected payment options.
