Apple unveils AirPods 5 with stronger noise cancellation and AI-powered features
Apple has officially introduced the AirPods 5, bringing significant upgrades to its open-ear wireless earbuds, including improved sound, stronger Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and deeper integration with Apple Intelligence.
Unveiled on September 9, the new AirPods 5 are designed to deliver a more immersive listening experience while retaining Apple's familiar open-ear fit. Apple says the new model offers up to 1.5 times more Active Noise Cancellation than the previous-generation AirPods 4 with ANC.
Stronger noise cancellation in an open-ear design
One of the biggest upgrades is the improved ANC system. Apple says AirPods 5 can reduce up to 50 percent more external noise compared with AirPods 4 with ANC.
The earbuds feature an all-new multiport acoustic architecture and next-generation Adaptive EQ, which automatically adjusts the sound based on how the AirPods fit in the user's ears. Apple also says the new design delivers richer and more detailed audio.
The AirPods 5 continue to offer Adaptive Audio, Transparency mode, Conversation Awareness, and Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, giving users more control over how they experience music, calls, and other content.
Siri AI and Live Translation
Apple is also bringing more AI-powered capabilities to the AirPods 5.
With a compatible iPhone, users can access Siri AI hands-free, including the ability to respond to Siri using simple head gestures such as nodding or shaking their head.
The earbuds also support Live Translation, allowing users to hear conversations translated into their preferred language through their AirPods.
New wireless charging option
Apple is offering the AirPods 5 in two configurations.
The standard AirPods 5 comes with a USB-C charging case, while the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case adds longer battery life and a new volume-control feature.
The wireless charging model introduces a force sensor with volume swipe, allowing users to adjust the volume directly from the AirPods stem. The case can also be charged using an Apple Watch charger or a Qi-compatible wireless charger.
Longer battery life
The standard AirPods 5 provide up to four hours of listening time with ANC enabled on a single charge.
The AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case increase that to up to five hours, while the charging case provides up to 22 hours of listening time with ANC.
AirPods 5 price in the Philippines
In the Philippines, the AirPods 5 starts at ₱9,490, while the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case is priced at ₱10,990.
Both versions also feature improved resistance to dust, sweat, and water, making them better suited for everyday use and workouts.
With stronger noise cancellation, upgraded audio, hands-free Siri AI, Live Translation, and a new wireless charging option, the AirPods 5 bring several features previously associated with Apple's more premium earbuds to its open-ear lineup.
