GSIS Ready to Offer Emergency Loans to ‘Maymay,’ Habagat Victims — Here’s How to Apply

MANILA, Philippines — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has announced that it is ready to activate its emergency loan facility for active members and pensioners impacted by Tropical Storm ‘Maymay’ and the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat), pending official state of calamity declarations in affected areas.

The financial relief package aims to provide immediate support to government workers and retirees as they recover from the recent severe weather conditions.

Borrowing Limits and Terms

Under the emergency loan program, borrowing caps are structured based on existing loan balances:

  • New Borrowers: Active members and pensioners without an existing emergency loan can borrow up to ₱20,000.

  • Existing Borrowers: Those with outstanding emergency loan balances may apply for up to ₱40,000. A portion of the new loan will automatically settle the remaining balance from the previous loan, with the net balance disbursed directly to the borrower.

All emergency loans carry a 6% annual interest rate and are payable in monthly installments over a period of three years.
